Assign Coursework from Anywhere
Teachers can manage both graded and ungraded coursework in SchoolFront. Creating coursework in the system allows teachers to track the dates on which coursework is given to students and the dates on which it is due.
Along with tracking assigned and due dates, teachers can include descriptions and attach class notes and resources to coursework so that students and parents can view the materials inside or outside of the classroom.
When coursework for a class is added to the system by a teacher, students who are in the class and the parents of those students can login to SchoolFront and see information about the coursework and the grades they receive as well.
Homework and Assignments
SchoolFront gives students the ability to securely access homework, reading assignments, and practice tests online from any Internet-connected computer.
Students who forget to write assignments down or who miss class can still keep up by downloading all of the information they need from SchoolFront.
Grades, Test Scores & GPA
SchoolFront gives students the ability to securely access their grades on assignments, tests, classes, etc. online from any Internet-connected computer without having to ask the teacher.
The system also projects their final grade point average (GPA) in a course based on coursework grades posted to-date so that students can see if they need to adjust their efforts in the course or ask for help from the teacher to improve their GPA.
Course Averages (Current & Projected)
SchoolFront allows students to view their own up-to-the-minute course averages so that they can anticipate report card grades.
With this feature and the ability to view individual assignment and test grades, students can see where they need to focus to improve the grades that will appear on their report card.
Calendar & Events
The SchoolFront calendar allows students to see what’s going on in their school (e.g. sporting events, field trips, concerts and theater, club schedules, etc.).
Accouncements & School Communication
SchoolFront announcements allow students to see important and up-to-date information posted by school administration (e.g. last minute cancelations, event reminders, school emergencies, etc.).
Secure System Access
SchoolFront provides students with secure, up-to-date access to their own student information using a unique username and password.
Exctracurricular Activity/Club Pages
Students in clubs and other extracurricular groups can help maintain the group's web page.
Student content managers can add text, images, comments, blog entries, events, and more to club / activity pages.
Buttons can be added to club / activity pages making it easy for people to post information to social sites (e.g. "Liking" or adding to your Wall on FaceBook, "Tweeting" on Twitter, etc.)
Secure Blogging, Forums & Social Media Integration
School staff members can create and maintain multi-media blogs for any purpose.
Privacy restrictions can be added to blogs to allow only certain users (other teachers, students, parents, etc.) to view, edit, and comment on the blogs. Some great examples of how blogs are used in schools include:
- Course blogs which teachers can use to encourage collaborative writing and sharing with all students in a specific course.
- Activity blogs which student groups can maintain on a specific topic, such as creative writing or photography.
Photo & Image Galleries
School staff members can create and collaboratively maintain photo galleries on activity pages. Collaborative access and maintenance means that the primary photo gallery owner (e.g. a teacher or administrator) can restrict who can add, view, and comment on photos in the gallery. Students can be permitted by staff to maintain galleries, posting images and comments.
Galleries can be maintained for student artwork, athletics / Hall of Fame, school events and concerts, extracurricular activities and clubs, etc.
