Student Drill Down
SchoolFront allows counselors to securely access and examine in-depth the academic profile of any student in the system. With this functionality counselors can view a student’s grades, teacher comments, attendance, and posted and projected report card grades from any Internet-connected computer.
Online Appointment Requests
Students can use SchoolFront to request appointments with their counselor online. This functionality allows the student to indicate the topic of conversation in the request. When counselors receive a request for a meeting, they are able to see the topic and easily view the students information online so that they are prepared to discuss the student's issues when the student arrives.
Parent and Guardian Information
SchoolFront allows counselors to securely access the contact information for their students’ parents and guardians and can use Map integration to get directions to students’ houses.
Identify Troubled Students
SchoolFront allows counselors to identify students that are struggling before it’s too late to help them back onto the right track.
Support Portal
The SchoolFront support portal provides all of the information counselors need to use the system and provides a means for counselors who need additional help to log support requests with the SchoolFront Support Team.
Pubic & Private Web Pages
SchoolFront's website hosting and content management system allows schools and districts to create and easily maintain school-branded websites. It also allows teachers and staff to create and collaboratively maintain sub-sites within the school website for just about any purpose.
Collaborative maintenance means that staff members can give other staff members, and even students or parents, permission to help them maintain sub-site content.
Examples:
Department Pages
Post an overview of the department and charter. List department members and chairpersons. Post course offering and descriptions. Post department member profiles, contact information, pictures, and link to teacher pages.
Teacher / Staff Pages
Teachers can maintain their own homepages with any content they desire. This could include lists of the classes and activities they lead, links to websites with information relevant to coursework, links to course pages, etc.
Course Pages
Pages can be created by teachers and teaching teams to support specific courses. As with Teacher / Staff Pages, course pages can host just about any content a teacher or staff member desires.
Activity Pages
Pages can be created by teachers and teaching teams to support specific activities like sports and clubs. As with course Pages, activity pages can host just about any content a teacher or staff member desires. If a club has a student president or group of students who are responsible for the operation of the club, the primary staff member responsible for the activity can grant one or more students permission to edit activity page content.
Online Forms & Surveys
School administrators and staff members can generate online forms for any purpose. These forms can be added to teacher's pages, activity pages, etc. They can be created to support any school purpose or process.
Some examples include permission slips, PTA signup, admissions application, job application, contact management, surveys, event / activity sign-up, and student council voting.
Secure Blogging & Forums
School staff members can create and maintain multi-media blogs for any purpose.
Privacy restrictions can be added to blogs to allow only certain users (other teachers, students, parents, etc.) to view, edit, and comment on the blogs. All blog entries and comments posted are traceable and only authorized members of the school community are permitted to access student and staff content.
Some great examples of how blogs are used in schools include:
- Teacher blogs which teachers write to share teaching experiences with peers.
- Course blogs which teachers can use to encourage collaborative writing and sharing with all students in a specific course.
- Activity blogs which student groups can maintain on a specific topic, such as creative writing or photography.

The FrontEdge Inc. Development Team works to continuously improve the features and functionality available in SchoolFront to address the evolving needs of SchoolFront users by means of customer feedback and customer and industry research and benchmarking.
Centralized System Updates
New features and system enhancements can easily be posted to the hosted site, where teachers login as usual and immediately reap the benefit of the new functionality or system enhancement. Centralized system updates eliminate the need for counselors to download patches and upgrades.

Course Enrollment
Course enrollment can be done centrally by a few resources in the school or district, or responsibility can be distributed across resources (e.g. academic advisors can work directly with students to create and manage the student schedules).
